Ohio's roadways are set to undergo a series of maintenance and construction projects this summer, impacting drivers across various counties. From lane restrictions to full closures, the state is investing in infrastructure improvements to ensure safe and efficient travel.
In Allen County, Interstate 75 will experience periodic lane restrictions between National Road in Cridersville and 4th Street in Lima from July 26 to August 28. The restrictions are necessary for micro-surfacing work, which aims to extend the lifespan of the road. Additionally, a lane closure is scheduled for pothole patching between 4th Street and Stewart Road from August 24 to 28.
State Route 66 remains open following a recent closure for full-width paving, while State Route 66/Main Street in Delphos will close from September 16 to 20 for the annual Canal Days festival. A roundabout construction project will also close the State Route 115 and Cole Street intersection south of U.S. 30 for approximately 60 days, with a detour in place.
In Auglaize County, the shoulder near the I-75 Northbound Rest Area will be closed from August 24 to 28 for ditch work. The county will also see intermittent overnight lane closures on I-75 between Middle Pike and Hengstler Road from May 18 through mid-August for cable rail installation.
State Route 29 in St. Marys will be reduced to a single lane for sidewalk installation and signal upgrades from March 16 through September, with traffic maintained by flagging operations. Roundabout construction on State Route 117 and State Route 501 will close the intersection for approximately 70 days, with detours in place.
A bridge reconstruction project on State Route 219 between CR 95 and Bay Road will close the road for approximately 90 days, with a detour via State Route 29 to State Route 274 to I-75 to State Route 219. State Route 364 and State Route 703 will also see lane restrictions for road repairs and resurfacing, with traffic maintained by flagging operations.
In Hardin County, State Route 37 will close for 45 days for culvert replacement, with a detour via U.S. 30, U.S. 68, SR 81, SR 53, and back to SR 37. U.S. 68/Detroit Street will close for six days for railroad crossing repair, with a detour via SR 67/Espy St. to Main St., to SR 309/Franklin St., and back to U.S. 68.
State Route 235 in Ada will close for the Harvest and Herb festival on September 19, while State Route 701 will open following culvert replacement. State Route 65 in Leipsic will close for the village festival from September 18 to 20, and State Route 114 and State Route 115 in Kalida may experience temporary traffic impacts for shared-use path construction.
In Van Wert County, the U.S. 30 restricted crossing U-turn, U.S. 224, and Lincoln Highway roundabout projects are ongoing, with U.S. 30 restricted to one lane in each direction and access to U.S. 30/John Brown Rd restricted to right-in/right-out movements. The intersection of U.S. 224 and Lincoln Highway closed on July 3 for roundabout construction.
These road construction and maintenance projects are essential for the long-term health of Ohio's infrastructure, ensuring safe and reliable travel for residents and visitors alike. Drivers are advised to plan ahead, follow detour routes, and exercise caution while navigating through construction zones.
