Houma Man in Custody Following Violent Ashland Area Stabbing Spree That Left Four Dead and Child Critically Injured

Authorities in Terrebonne Parish have taken a 47-year-old Houma resident into custody following a devastating string of stabbings in the Ashland community. The violent incident, which unfolded over the weekend, claimed the lives of four individuals and left a young child fighting for survival in an out-of-area medical facility.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of Kaegan Jude Solet on September 13 in connection with the fatal attacks. While Solet remains detained by law enforcement officials, investigators noted that formal criminal charges have not yet been filed as detectives continue their active processing of the crime scenes and evidence.

The emergency response began on September 12 when sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Ashland Drive following reports of violence. Upon arriving at the designated residential area, first responders discovered a chaotic scene that quickly escalated into a major multi-casualty homicide investigation.

Among the first individuals located by responding deputies was a young boy under the age of 10 who had sustained multiple severe stab wounds. Recognizing the gravity of the child's life-threatening injuries, emergency medical personnel arranged for immediate air transport via helicopter to take him to a specialized hospital located outside the parish.

As medical crews worked to stabilize the critically injured juvenile, law enforcement officers secured the perimeter and initiated a broader search of the immediate surroundings. The young male victim remained in critical condition following his emergency airlift, representing the sole known survivor among the five total individuals assaulted during the attack.

A more comprehensive sweep of the property revealed four additional victims who suffered fatal injuries during the incident. Investigators established that the violent spree encompassed two separate residential dwellings situated on the exact same parcel of land in the Ashland vicinity.

Deputies confirmed that two deceased victims were located inside one of the homes on the property, while the remaining two fatalities were discovered within the second residential structure. The spatial distribution of the victims across both houses highlighted the intense and extensive nature of the violence that occurred at the single address.

In addressing the community's immediate concerns regarding safety, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Blake Tabor sought to clarify the nature of the tragic events. Tabor stated firmly that the multi-fatality incident was certainly not a random act of violence, indicating that the victims were targeted intentionally.

Law enforcement personnel have emphasized that the broader investigation into the violent crime remains active and ongoing. Forensic specialists, investigators, and sheriff's deputies are continuing to piece together the sequence of events, reconstruct timelines, and establish the complete circumstances that precipitated the deadly encounters.

The apprehension of Solet has drawn renewed scrutiny to the suspect's past encounters with the local criminal justice system. Records indicate that the 47-year-old had previously faced severe legal scrutiny in Terrebonne Parish after being accused of a separate violent stabbing several years earlier.

In 2019, Solet was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with an assault at the Red Carpet Inn located in Houma. During the subsequent legal proceedings, the victim in that case, Cindy Boudreaux, testified before a jury that Solet had struck her over the head with a wine bottle before stabbing her multiple times.

Throughout his trial for the 2019 hotel incident, Solet presented testimony regarding his personal background and circumstances, informing the jury that he worked as a shrimper by trade and had experienced a period of homelessness. The jury in that prior case ultimately acquitted Solet of the attempted murder charge, finding him not guilty of the violent offenses alleged against him.

The latest arrests and revelations have deeply shaken the Ashland and Houma communities as residents confront the reality of four lost lives and a child remaining in intensive medical care. Sheriff's officials continue to maintain a heavy investigative presence in the Ashland Drive area while collecting witness statements and technical evidence from both dwellings.

As the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office prepares its findings for prosecutors, formal charges against Solet are expected to follow the conclusion of initial investigative benchmarks. Meanwhile, local authorities and medical teams remain focused on the status of the young surviving victim as the parish seeks answers to one of its most severe violent crime cases in recent memory.
