South Euclid Driver Sentenced to Prison Following Impaired-Driving Crash That Triggered Premature Labor

A South Euclid motorist has been sentenced to prison and stripped of his driving privileges for well over a decade after causing a severe multi-vehicle collision in Streetsboro that left several people injured and resulted in an expectant mother delivering her child prematurely.

Portage County Common Pleas Judge Becky Doherty ordered 33-year-old Tevin R. Glenn to serve a term of six to nine years in state custody. The sentencing came after Glenn entered guilty pleas to charges of second-degree felony aggravated vehicular assault and fourth-degree felony operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Beyond the multi-year term of incarceration, Judge Doherty handed down a 15-year suspension of Glenn’s driver’s license. The court also levied financial penalties, ordering the Cuyahoga County resident to pay a $1,540 fine in addition to $338 in accrued court costs.

The legal proceedings stem from a catastrophic sequence of events that occurred on Aurora Hudson Road, where an evening commute abruptly turned violent due to impaired driving. The most critically injured victim was a 19-year-old Cuyahoga Falls resident who was seven months pregnant when Glenn collided head-on with her vehicle.

Following the impact, emergency responders transported the teenage driver to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital located in Mayfield Heights. While receiving urgent medical care for traumatic bodily injuries—which included three broken bones in her right leg, a fractured sternum, and a punctured lung—the young woman went into premature labor and gave birth to a baby boy.

The profound physical and emotional toll of the incident prompted strong condemnation from local prosecutors. Portage County Prosecutor Connie Lewandowski underscored the entirely preventable nature of the collision, emphasizing the extreme danger Glenn posed to everyone on the roadway.

Lewandowski noted that a young mother nearly lost her life and an infant was thrust into the world far ahead of schedule simply because an individual made the reckless decision to drive while intoxicated. She stressed that innocent families should never have to suffer such catastrophic outcomes because of another motorist's unlawful actions.

The collision unfolded at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 20, according to official police reports from the Streetsboro Police Department. Glenn was traveling westbound along Aurora Hudson Road behind the wheel of a 2014 Nissan Armada when his vehicle initially drifted left of the center line.

During that initial lane departure, Glenn’s SUV sideswiped an oncoming 2014 Mazda3 that was traveling eastbound. Although Glenn reportedly managed an initial steering correction after clipping the first vehicle, he quickly lost control once more, veering across the center line a second time into the path of oncoming traffic.

This second drift proved catastrophic, resulting in a violent, head-on impact with an eastbound 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by the pregnant 19-year-old victim. The force of the direct collision caused extensive damage to the vehicles and inflicted multiple serious injuries upon the young driver.

In addition to the trauma suffered by the pregnant driver, occupants in the other impacted vehicle were also affected. The driver of the Mazda3, identified as a 39-year-old Streetsboro man, along with two young passengers—an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl—sustained minor physical injuries and were visibly shaken by the frightening crash.

In the chaotic moments immediately following the head-on collision, Glenn abandoned his disabled Nissan Armada and fled the scene on foot, according to documentation released by the prosecutor's office. He eventually walked back to the crash location and attempted to deny any involvement in the wreck.

However, multiple witnesses present at the scene immediately identified Glenn to responding law enforcement officers as the driver responsible for triggering the multi-vehicle crash. Streetsboro police officers on site subsequently administered standard field sobriety tests, which Glenn failed, leading to his immediate arrest.

Court documents indicate that the OVI offense was elevated to a fourth-degree felony due to Glenn’s repeat history of impaired driving. He had previously accumulated two separate OVI convictions within the prior five-year period, stemming from cases prosecuted in both Cuyahoga County and Medina County.

As part of the negotiated plea agreement that resolved the case, prosecutors dismissed several other counts listed in Glenn’s initial indictment. Those dropped charges included a fourth-degree felony count for refusing to submit to chemical sobriety tests, leaving the scene of an accident (hit-skip), driving under a suspended license, and obstructing official business.
